This extremely noisy corner of Exeter had for a long time been far from ideal as a site for a coaching Inn. The Honiton Inn on this site had closed and the time had come for redevelopment. An increasing student population attending the very popular and successful Exeter University needed somewhere to live.
Grainge Architects designed a modern yet sympathetic building to fill the site sitting right beside a very busy road and roundabout combination. Students have moved past the days of living in squalor and now expect modern and well-appointed living conditions. It seems reasonable that they should be able to study in quiet and well-ventilated rooms and enjoy unspoiled sleep. There is no doubt that Central living provides just that.
Architectural Aluminium and Glass used its wide-ranging expertise to offer a beautiful and high-performance window system. They turned to Brookvent to provide high-flow window ventilators to the airvent DGL Super. These vents can give up to 55dB attenuation and were one of the very few products that could match the needs of the building and its occupants. Now the inside environment feels fresh and quiet despite being right beside constant traffic.
